The following message was sent to CCSD21 families through ParentSquare, the district’s notification tool. Families who did not receive this message should contact their school’s main office to ensure their contact information is up to date.

Dear CCSD21 families,

In its updated COVID-19 guidance to schools, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has lowered the minimum social distance from 6 feet to 3 feet in classrooms. A minimum 6 feet of social distancing is still required while in active physical education, at lunch, and recess. In addition, the CDC has removed its recommendation for the use of physical barriers between students in classrooms.

The district intended to place plexiglass barriers on the desks of students who were in classrooms that were not at a full 6 feet of social distancing. With the new change in CDC guidance, we will no longer be placing those barriers on desks unless it is specifically requested by the classroom teacher. Likewise, any parent who would like a plexiglass barrier placed on their child’s desk may request one by contacting their child’s school principal.

If due to facilities or scheduling, a child’s classroom is being used for lunch, plexiglass dividers will be provided for use on desks during the lunch period.

Please do not hesitate to contact your school’s principal with any questions or concerns.

Thank you.
