Mr. Kuefler's visit

Students had the honor and pleasure to meet author, Joseph Kuefler.  He is the author of Beyond the Pond and most recently, Rulers of the Playground.  Teachers took the time to read his books prior to the visit and had meaningful connection activities hung in the hall for Mr. Kuefler to see.  Two 5th grade students were charged with being Whitman Ambassadors to welcome to author.  They politely welcomed him, shared what they liked about his books and asked a few questions.  The Ambassadors were Mr. Kuefler’s assistants while he personalized his books.  At the assembly, the students entered the gym in awe of the “famous person” who came to visit our school.  Mr. Kuefler shared his journey as a writer including the joys and the frustrations of the process.  It was a great connection to where the students currently are in their own writing processes.  The students were entertained by Mr. Kuefler reading his book, sharing the process, giving us a sneak peek at his new books as well as his silly antics.
