Topic: Student Learning
Mrs. Mele’s class in 2014-2015 decided it was a problem in our school community that Whitman students did not have sufficient access to books. This problem solving group of students took on an authentic learning project for our school. They provided a free library within the school as well as dreams of one for the outside. Today, that dream is now a reality. There is now a free library out in front of the school for Whitman students and neighbors to use. Mrs. Mele always says, “give a book, take a book”. Come by and check it out. As a school, we are proud of this group of students that saw a need and made something happen.
